Buffers
pH Buffer
Sunita offers buffering agents that meet a variety of needs for both cementing and fracturing applications. Buffers with sodium and potassium cations are offered in conjunction with hydroxide, oxide, and carbonate anions or mixtures of these anions. Sunita buffering agents are offered at various concentrations to meet application needs at both low and high temperatures.
Fracturing Applications:
Sunita offers a 4-5% solution of potassium hydroxide for crosslinking guar at lower temperatures. This buffer is optimized to adjust the pH to about 9 – 12. Loadings of the buffer can be adjusted to meet the desired requirements of the fluid.
For moderate to higher temperatures Sunita offers a buffer which combines potassium hydroxide and potassium carbonate in an optimized ratio to achieve superior crosslinked viscosity and stability. The loadings of the buffer can be adjusted to achieve the desired pH and maintain fluid stability within the pH range of 9 – 12.
